Cycling

Cranford Park Friends wants to encourage cycling in and around the park. It is a great way to get to see more of your neighbourhood, and get from park to park along the Crane Valley.

James Savage has researched this route for cyclists linking two heritage sites – Cranford Park’s Stable Yard and Crane Park’s Shot Tower, following the River Crane as closely as possible.

River Crane Cycle Route
From Cranford Park to the River Crane Shot Tower

The suggested route is shown in yellow and the river is shown in blue. The section dotted orange/yellow is an alternative route using Green Lane, avoiding a wooden riverside decking section (3) which is slippery in wet weather, and a rough gravel section between Waye Avenue and the Great South West Road. The section between (4) and the Hanworth Road continues along the river bank until the railway, after which it crosses Feltham marshalling yard, emerging on Pevensey Road.

Comments on this route, which is unofficial, are welcomed.
